What's the longest you've been on a social site? Most that I used in the early days are dead, but last.fm is still going. It was originally called Audioscrobbler. What it does is to use apps to log all the music you listen to and lets you see all sorts of data about your listening habits and those of others.
You may not be surprised to know that I'm steevc there too.
A friend persuaded me to join. I can't remember what I was using to listen back then, but various software I've used since has supported it. Lots of the Linux audio apps support it, as does Spotify. There are browser extensions to log what you listen to via Youtube and other sites. There are mobile apps to cover your device of choice too.
Steemian is in my top artists this week.
It's social in that you can follow friends to see what they are listening to and send messages. There's a gig listing service so you can log what events you go to. I've used that to sell a spare ticket for a gig. I knew it was going to a real fan as I could see they listened to the band.
I used to use it to stream music it thought I would like, something like Spotify. That facility is still available. I'm not listening to as much music as I used to as it's not so practical in my current job, so my 'Scrobble' count will be rising slow. Maybe I'll get to 100k some day.
They have a premium account that gains you some extra features. I paid that for a while. The site was bought by CBS years ago, but they don't seem to have done too much with it.
It's one of those services that never got as big as it deserved to. I think they had a fair number of musicians on there interacting with fans, but I don't know how many still use it. Is anyone here on last.fm?
Steem on
I'm Steve, the geeky guitarist.
I'll buy guitar picks for Steem Dollars
