I doubt we will get the full story of why there were approved. The oil companies do have a lot of influence, but it can be political to. The Tories and Reform would probably do the same. It does seem that renewables are the cheapest option now. With more storage they are less variable. We saw a big battery installation in Scotland near some turbines. Now there are plug-in solar options that could add up.
