I think that swimming ought to be a good overall exercise as you use your whole body. I have been using our garden pool when it's been warm. It is only a few strokes per length, but I would hope it does me some good. It makes a change from running anyway and it does not really stress my body too much. I do not log the swimming activities as my watch does not really do it. I tried a swimming app on it, but did not get much useful from it. The weather has turned a little cooler now so I'll wait for it to warm up again.
I am doing body weight exercises too most days and feel like I'm getting stronger. That is giving some good results on my running.
