I think I could charge for even less here overnight on the tariff I have and our petrol/gas is a lot more expensive than yours. On a summer day the panels could charge the car a bit slower. I think a lot of people don't appreciate what you can save on maintenance. The mechanics of an electric car are simpler with less to go wrong.
If you have to use public charging more then the economics does shift. Otherwise the convenience of charging at home has some time savings.
There is a lot of rubbish talked about EVs. There's a guy on FB who is always dispelling the myths and he gets a lot of abuse from the petrolheads. It's crazy how attached people get to these machines that cost us a fortune to run.
For now one of our kids runs an EV whilst we still have our old Honda CRV, but we will get an EV as our next car.
