I was out with my chickens and was loving all the birdsong going on around me. The chickens were quiet though. I need to learn to recognise the different songs, but we have blackbird, robin and collared dove that I can identify as I can see them. There is also a blue tit that is too busy feeding its young to sing. I only noticed today that I could hear them in the nest box we put up. The doves have bragged in our apple tree before, but last year the chicks fell out of the nest and died.
You do feel a bit closer to nature when you live on the countryside. We do not even have continuous traffic noise although it can get busy around here.
