Description from Strava:
Cycling can be a good way to explore a city, but having a guide helps. We did a tour with Fitz Montreal who supply nice bikes. Our guide Darren was showing us some areas away from the centre.
The city has cycle lanes on most major roads and we also made use of the alleys in between. We made several stops and took it fairly easy over 3 hours, so did not cover a vast distance, but it would take much longer to walk.
Our first stop was at St Viateur bagel shop that has been in the same family for 3 generations. They make their bagels in the local traditional way by boiling in honey water then baking in a wood oven. The guide bought some for us with some cream cheese. We also got some for later. They were great.
We also went to the big market we visited previously in Little Italy. They have an amazing variety of produce. The weather was very good and it just rained a little whilst we were in the market. The forecast has been showing more rain, so we have done well.
The tree-lined streets have lots of pretty houses, but it is not a cheap place to live.
We really enjoyed the tour. It avoided the city's hills. There are other tours on electric motorbikes or ebikes that may be better for reaching some areas.
