Description from Strava:
After a couple of hot days it has cooled down again here, but everything is still really dry with no sign of rain.
Today's run was another go at my 800m intervals. That does not sound very far, but when you are running all out it can feel like forever. I managed a new personal best on the new road to the bypass even though I did not sprint it all so there is potential to improve on that. I can see on Strava that others have been much quicker. My top speed is about 5min/km with the odd stretch where I go a little quicker, probably when going downhill.
Work on the river is still ongoing in Etonbury Woods, but there was nobody around. It is a bit of a climb out of there to get on the Pendleton Way cycle track into Stotfold. I did a couple of diversions along there to fit in all the repetitions. That is all fairly flat. I cam back through Arlesey with time at the end to cool down a little. I was walking between the intervals as I needed to recover.
I would be happy if I could maintain about 5:15 over a whole parkrun. I am not too far off that so I will keep up these sessions once a week. If I tried to do it quicker I would run out of puff with my current fitness.
I may have to look at new shoes soon and will probably stick with Allbirds as I am happy with them. They may not be considered a 'performance' shoe, but at my level it does not matter too much and I do not get any issues with my feet and legs with these.
The tree is near me and recently got trimmed back so you don't need to walk in the road to get around it.
I have volunteered for parkrun this week so will get a bit of a break before my usual long Sunday run.
Stay well and run free.
