Description from Strava:
The weather has turned dry, but windy and it was not looking too bad out this morning. My legs were feeling a little tired, but I did the usual jog up to parkrun. There were quite a few people there and when they called for the newbie and visitor welcome there were lots went over.
I was not looking to be especially quick, but I set off at a good pace that I was able to maintain for the first lap. Some workers were out laying more wood chippings on the muddy bits, but they kept out of our way. It is not that bad anyway despite the recent rain. I was getting overtaken a fair bit, but I passed some people too. One guy was breathing hard after a lap, but I was feeling pretty good.
The second lap was a little slower, but I could see I was on for a good time. I pushed harder on the last half lap. With 500m to go some young lad urged me on as he passed me, but there was no way I would keep up with him.
I did what I could at the end and got my best time there in a couple of years so was very pleased. My current training seems to be effective. I have been doing easy long runs that are supposed to be good for the heart and I also do some strength work.
At the finish there was a lady getting medical attention with her arm in a sling. I heard she tripped and landed on her shoulder. An ambulance came out, but someone was able to take her to hospital to get it checked out.
I had coffee with the usual crowd before walking home with Linda. She keeps me up to date with local news, but she did not know more about an incident of suspicious substances found near us last weekend.
It is looking like a nice day so I will be out in the garden again. Enjoy your weekend and run free!
