The opportunity of a lifetime which may create a breakup - to do or not to do:

I have been given the opportunity to travel halfway across the world to stay with extended family with my parents paying for all of the travel expenses. Opportunity of a lifetime, right? [...] The catch is, I have a boyfriend of 2 years that would likely break up with me if I leave. I know that I'm young, and I need these experiences, but I love him very much and I already left him for university last year. If I leave again, he will more than definitely remove me from his life, and we'll never be in contact again, because that's how he deals with break ups.

Um, he's 20. How does she possibly know that's how he deals with break-ups? Well, she's right - nothing's free!!! If she travels, he may pursue other girls and he's right to do so Relationships require some presence. You gotta be present some, or else they'll drift away. For her, if this is the opportunity of a lifetime (professional or fun?), I feel she should take it. Why miss out on that.

I'm going to be a big fat meanie and express that no matter what she chooses, she'll have regret of some sorts. If she doesn't travel, she'll always wonder what opportunities she missed. If she travels, the guy will probably dump her, and she'll always wonder what if. Her choice won't be free. She commented many times that she enjoyed travel, so from the sound of it, I feel she loves that more than her current bf. A reminder to be honest with yourself when making decisions!!!

What would you do - travel or stay in the relationship?
