Funny enough is that replacement motors for specific models are often on eBay, tested and ready to replace. Motors are too hard to fix, but if a replacement isn't cost-efficient, the owner of the vacuum has plenty of valuable parts they can take off and sell to offset the value of their new vacuum, or even just resell to prevent unnecessary waste (the priority in my eyes). If someone doesn't need it bad enough to toss it, there are plenty of people who have saved searched on ebay to scoop one up as soon as it's listed. I've parted out a lot of cracked TVs since the motherboard and powerboards are fine. Good motherboards easily sell for $75-$150 depending on the TV and if it's discontinued, etc.. My current 55" Smart TV works perfectly and was found on the curbs literally 20 seconds before the recycling working went to pick it up to crush in their compactor truck. That was a nice save.
