This time it's personal!
A couple of posts ago, I highlighted a certain healer named Wood Nymph and the subsequent beat-down I received. I also talked about the importance of protecting your healers using buffs, proper placement, and other monsters. Healers don't start battles with a lot of health or armor.
This battle is a perfect example of that lesson. I happened to face another team that included Wood Nymph. But, I was ready this time. I had the perfect monster to take out my opponents back-line monsters...Serpentine Spy.
The Serpentine Spy has the Opportunity ability. Monsters with Opportunity will attack the opposing monster with the lowest health. Thanks to my Goblin Shaman(-1 to enemy's health), three of my opponent's monsters started with one health. One of those three being the Wood Nymph.
The manna cap for this battle was 23 and the only rule was Unprotected. This means all monsters start with no armor and receive no armor from buffs.
The aforementioned Serpentine Spy would prove to be the Most Valuable Monster(MVM) of the battle. It took out the Wood Nymph on it's first turn. Never giving the enemy's healer a chance to affect the fight.
