I work with many doctors and neurologists. One day during a clinic session, my boss who is a neuropsychologist, and our colleague who is a neurologist, were both having a discussion. They were talking about a client's diagnosis and were incredibly stuck.
The client was like no other. His symptoms were nothing like we've encountered before. My boss thought it would be a good idea to ask a colleague who is at a higher level than him for an opinion. He took his ego aside to ask for help.
What did the neurologist say next?
“Don't mention my name. I don't want my ego and pride being tarnished”.
Wow. We were all shocked. I'm pretty sure the patient's well-being comes first before your pride and arrogance. Those ugly words should have never left his mouth. Anyway, I respect his profession and what he does, but I do not respect him as a human being. .
