This is something that I didn’t know but I just witnessed from a Ola Cab driver.
I along with my brother booked a ola cab from Madabakkam, Chennai to Mahabalipuram. Cab reached to pick us in 4 minutes. As soon as we got in, the cab driver suggested us to cancel the ride and book again as Prime Play! (Initially we booked a Prime Sedan).
But we asked the reason by saying that we will be charged with cancellation fee if we do as he say. He then assured us to give us back whatever the cancellation fee Ola lay on us. We agreed and canceled the ride and tried to book Ola Prime Play as he suggested. But to our surprise we couldn’t get any cabs available in our location then!.
We regretted for following his words because we were already in a hurry and this happened in between. My brother showed clear anger on his face which the driver can cleary see. So now the driver said us that he will be droping us in the destination (Mahabalipuram) for the same price shown to us earlier in Ola (around Rs. 800/- ) without being to book again, as if he is doing a favour for us. We agreed and continued the ride. That’s it. Story over.
What he actually did was that he successfully avoided paying the ride share to Ola ( which is around 30%) theryby getting 100% of the cab fare that we have paid.
Though we didn’t lose anything from this, Ola did.
PS: This tactic is applicable only to those who don’t care to complete the so called 15 minimum rides a day to get the bonus from Ola (Ola ride policy).
