The Byzantine historian Prokopios, who lived in the 6th century, writes a history book in the years 550-558. The book was first discovered in the Vatican library after a thousand years of confidentiality and is published for the first time in 1623 , Lets take a look that contains some contreversial and interesting information about that era.
Prokopios was observer in every war Emperor Justinianus made with vandalls and Goths and he wrote a book about all of them in order to observe the details about this wars , however after knowing the emperor and the queen he secretly started to hate them and he secretly wrote Historia Arcana and spill all the rumors about them and also he mention about his general Flavius Belisarius Prokopios definetely hate him too.
Well according to his writings things starting to get ugly , When General Belisarius went for war his wife Antonina made sex with Theodosius when the servants snitched them he first cut their tongues and then chop them in to tiny pieces and threw in to the sea. Well Belisarius ignored all of this , however his wifes son from her ex husband couldn't stand the fact that her mom is spending all the money with her new lover and he imprisoned Theodosius in somewhere in Kilikia when he was trying to become monk in order to avoid fornication accusations.
Well Antonina spoke with Queen Theodora and they become best friends forever , because they were similar in characteristic attributes. Theodora made Antoninas son arrested and put it in the dungeons in order to learn her lovers place. Obviously Photius never give any clue about this eventhough they were torturing him to death. He eventually escaped from the dungeon and hide in to Ayasophia Sanctuary which is the most sacred part of the place for Orthadox Byzantiums. Surprisingly she didn't care about the holyness of the place and she took him from there too.
After staying in the dungeons for 3 years , he managed to escape again to Jerusalem in order to become monk , eventhough Belisarius pledged loyalty to Photius he didn't do anything about this while everything was happening. This was just some part of the book but if you want to read it , it is all about storm of gossip and weird acts.
