It seems even those with all the money in the world and every reason not to take from others, still do. It may not necessarily be a crime of malice, but one of negligence in this case, but in the end it is stealing just the same.

Here's the story:

Apparently Elon Musk, wanting to market his Tesla wares, usurped an image of a lowly potter and Twitted it out as an advertisement. It was an image of a unicorn farting magic, er something, into a car. Presumably, the message was that Unicorn farts, coming from the mythical and magical beast, contain the caloric/combustible substance that makes a Tesla car go fast.

Once the potter found out his fantastical image had been pilfered, he became farting mad at Elon. And, as is his usual response, Elon was mad back, insisting that he had not stolen the image. There was some irritable, and perhaps somewhat irrational, back and forth, but now they seem to have come to a gentleman's agreement and compromise over the issue. Although the terms of their resolution were not disclosed, it seems we can all rest assured that no unicorns were harmed in this brief, if not intense, branding war.

However, the lessons learned from this event should not be lost on all Steemians: make sure to have permission and/or give proper attribution when using or referencing the rightfully owned work of others.

Otherwise, they'll send the unicorns out to get you in your sleep.
