I'm all for education, especially STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) education. But NASA has recently put out a video that makes me reconsider a quest for complete knowledge in ALL things.

The above short but stunning video shows the progression of all KNOWN Asteroids in close proximity to Earth's orbit. As we watch the years progress from 1999-2018, the amount of asteroids goes up. A lot. Like, exponentially. But it's not that the amount of asteroids went up during that time, it's just our KNOWLEGE of them being there has gotten better. Those asteroids have been there all along. We just didn't know about them.

This begs the question, what will be our improved knowledge in the next 10, 20 or 50 years? Do we really want to know, especially if there really isn't much we can do if one comes our way? Again, my standard answer is always, more knowledge is better. But in this case... I'll leave it to the reader to decide that question for themselves.
