Even if you aren't a sky watcher, interested in astronomy (NOT to be confused with astrology and your fortune based on cosmic alignments) or a Mars enthusiast, you should try to get out in the next few days to see if you can get a good look at Mars. According to NASA, we are, as of today, the closest we have been to Mars since 2003, and won't be this close again until 2035.
If nothing else, for those still alive in 2035, the history of this event could be something special.
How different will the world be in 2035? Will there be people living on Mars? How far will our technology have taken us? Are we better off, or have we destroyed ourselves and the planet by then? Interesting to think about.
For example, consider how different the world was last time we were this close to Mars.
The iPhone was still another three years away.
The iPad was seven years away.
Hardly anyone had even heard of Barak Obama outside of Illinois as he had just been re-elected for the third time as State Senator.
Elon Musk, fresh off his sale of PayPal to eBay had just founded SpaceX and Tesla.
Facebook wouldn't be founded for another year.
Given how much things have changed since our last close pass to Mars, what will our world be like when we are this close again?
