First One Is Always Special : Promotion [Weekend Engagement-166]
There is a famous verse in the Bhagavad Gita which is in Sanskrit:
कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन्। मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते संगोस्त्वकर्मणि।।
I know it is pretty hard to read, but the above lines meant:
“Do your duty with right spirit. Never bother about the results”
This is one of my dad's favorite's quote. He always taught us to perform with complete dedication and never to bother about the outcome. And this what I saw in my real life as well. When you do something wholeheartedly, the result is always sweeter.

Promotion has always been a special moment in everybody career. It is a reward that people earn over their performance and hard work. Everyone wants to climb the success ladder and so does me as well. I always cherish my first promotion in my career, which made me more responsible towards job, life and career. As always said "First one is always special", so does mine too.
Promotion in India corporate culture is not so easy unless and until you were a bootlickers of the top management or to your Senior. I learned it very hard way later on in my career stage. But I never opted this shortcut and always rely on my performance and hard work. I like to keep my dignity and self respect intact, whatever I do.

My first Promotion was the result of my efforts put in making the backend process stabilize. I made use all my previous experience in a manufacturing industry and made the things possible. I made all the corporate pitches, training documents, aligned with clients and carrying out all the necessary day to day task. I joined the company as an associate which was the junior most of the corporate hierarchy. The next level followed was of Team Leader. It was suppose to be due after 15 month of joining, but in my case I achieved it within 12 months of joining. ***It was a self made achievement and I set example for all on the floor that what was announced by our VP. (Head of the department.)
Team keep growing and my responsibility as well
Any achievement in life is sweeter if it was achieved purely with the efforts. Anything served in front of me is tasteless. Doing is our part. Whether our deeds are fruitful or not is left to destiny. It is left to GOD's will.
I have seen people demotivated or depressed on not getting their promotion, but we have to remember, we are in race and there are full of competition. The promotion are limited in a corporate and getting on top of list is not easy. In my later stage of career, whenever I saw some kind of discrepancy in promotion system, like non performer, bootlickers being promoted ahead of other deserving candidate, I opted to change the company, I made two switches, and when I choose to end my career, I managed to climb upto Manager level. Next level Senior Manager position in the company was due.
More power brings more responsibility and this is quite true in your career, as you grow make sure to bring changes in your behaviors' and attitude. It will always help in long run.
