My Dear Steemians,
I have joined Steemit a few weeks before. Accidentally I came across a blog post about Steemit and it was the best thing happen to me. I liked the idea of Decentralized Social Media Platform. Instantly I have joined this platform. The first week I made my first introductory post, commenting and upvoting others.
At last, I made a decision to buy Steem or Steem Dollar. As I don't have any idea, I made a post about how to buy Steem. Lot of good people suggested a different option. Somebody asked me to buy from Coinbase, Some suggest to buy it from Local ATM. Unfortunately, None of the options available in my country.
As I already liked the platform, I want to buy some steem and I conducted an extensive research. At last, I found a long road to buy Steem. Here is what I do. I apply for credit cards to a bank by depositing some dollars.
With My Credit cards, I transferred some dollars to Skrill. Skrill is an online payment and money transfer company. Former name of Skrill is Moneybookers. I am very happy with Skrill as their service is simple, secure and quick.
From Skrill, I transferred money to the Virtual World Exchange (virwox). Virwox is a leading exchange for trading virtual currencies.
Currently it accepts PayPal, Skrill, OkPay for deposit money. See below for full list: Image Courtesy: Virwox. Remember to check its fee. From Skrill to Virwox, they charge 0.49$ + 3.5% commission.
This is not the end. You can not buy Steem from there. You have to exchange USD to SLL (Linden Dollars). During conversion, there is a fee 50 SLL and 3.5% commission. These rules are for all conversion I think.
From these SLL, You can buy Bitcoins.
There are a fee of 50 SLL and 3.5% commission. I found no problem with virwox except the fee. One problem is that they will convert only dollar, no fraction.
Finally you can transfer your Bitcoin to your Bitcoin address. There is a fee of 0.001 BTC for every transaction. I have an account in bittrex. I transferred to Bittrex. I found bittrex is very professional. I had a problem, they solve it within 2 minutes. very professional company.
From Bittrex, I transferred the BTC to STEEM through BLOCKTRADE. The process was very smooth. I started with 34 dollar. Half of the money gone for fee and I received 16 STEEM DOLLAR. I am very happy that at last I bought Steem dollar.
You may have easy process to buy but I have faced the longest journey to buy steem. Still i am happy. I hope i will have a great time in this great platform.
