This nearly 200 meters high rock is called Lion Rock and you can find it in Sigiriya. A small town near Dambulla. On the summit you will find the foundations of a palace built by King Kasyapa (477 – 495 CE). We got up there as soon as it opens up (7 am) to beat the heat and the crowd. We beated the crowd but it was still a hot climb. Nevertheless, the view from the summit is rewarding!
