Splinterlands

Splinterlands (Formally known as Steem Monsters) is a Trading Card Game (TCG) on the Steem blockchain.

The cards are very easy to read..

Also the abilities have fun symbols that make it easy to list 4 and it not take up the whole card!!

There are 2 types of cards, which can either be a Summoner or a Monster.

The Summoner is like the coach and the Monsters are like the players. Each Summoner can only Summon it’s own type aka Splinter..

..unless it is a Dragon Summoner!

Dragon Summoners are the only Summoners that can summon Dragons!!

And they have the option to choose any Splinter (that’s available that round) to use those cards as well!

The battles are quick and fun to play!

The rules and mana level changes each battle to make the game interesting!

There are a lot of awesome rules, and the team is always adding more!

After you pick your team the battle itself is quick, and plays out automatically.

Now you do earn crypto when you win battles on Splinterlands called Dark Energy Crystals (DEC)

As long as your Energy Capture Rate (ECR) has not been depleted..

Gods Unchained

Gods Unchained (GU) is also a Blockchain TCG, but is on the Ethereum blockchain.

Now the game and battles are not played on the blockchain like with Splinterlands, but the cards are sold and traded on Ethereum. (Which now Splinterlands is on opensea.io as well!)

The card layout is a lot like Splinterlands cards, and are treated similar as well. (Except the abilities and moves of the card is text instead of symbols.)

However the game is played a lot differently..

The point of the game is to take out the God, which is like the Summoner in Splinterlands. Only in Splinterlands the Summoner does not have health or get attacked.. It only decides the Splinter and gives a buff like +1 Magic or +1 Health for all friendly Monsters. So it is a lot different on that aspect.

Also you start with 30 cards, and draw them similar to HearthStone. Where in Splinterlands the rules and Mana determine who, what, and how many cards you can play and what types you are able to play each battle.

Lastly according to the Immutable blog

Each time you level up, you will receive a pack of Plain core cards.

We modified the rewards you receive at each level to create a more exciting experience. New players will unlock Magic at level 4, Death at level 6 and Deception at level 8, giving them more time to explore the differences between the gods. We have also included special packs at milestone levels (10 and 25) — let us know what you think! The amount of XP required to reach each level has increased slightly, to adjust for us increasing the rewards at each level.

So you are able to earn while playing GU as well, and level up to unlock greater rewards!

Conclusion

If you like Trading Card Games, and you like blockchain technology.. I think BOTH of these games are great!

They both are easy to get into if you wanted to get started, and I am pretty sure they both have a play for free option coming as well!

If you like games that take up to 15+ minutes per battle then Gods Unchained is good for that. Or if you like quick 2-5 minute battles then Splinterlands is great for quick games!

Now it might be beneficial to have shorter games if you want to get a lot of matches in.

Lastly the biggest deal I think for both games are the tournaments!!

Splinterlands has been having tournaments for almost a year, and has given away almost $100k in prizes that are free to enter!!
