Romans 1:22-27New International Version (NIV)
22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

The book of Romans is one of the Paulenic epistles. It is said to have been written in the late 50's. The book is the sixth book in the New Testament. It follows the Acts of the Apostles which is closely after the four gospels.

On commenting about the book, the Jesuit scholar Joseph Fitzmyer said, and I quote,

"The book overwhelms the reader by the density and sublimity of the topic with which it deals, the gospel of the justification and salvation of Jew and Greek alike by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ."

It is this same book which was written many years back echoes the prophet it made in the verses quoted above. It talks as if it is addressing the present generation. During those times and even earlier, there was homosexuality, lesbianism and all the other other types of sex known today. Yet it was not really accepted as normal. At times severe punishment was meted on the perpetrators. There is the case of Jacob's sons circumcising and finally killing their sister Dina's rapist and their male kin. There is also the case of Sodom and Gommorah.

During those times people never behaved with impunity as they do now. They go as further of making laws to legitimize their actions. Seeking of scientific explanations increase their sturbboness.

The bible says that God left them to their shameful acts. It does not mean He legitimized it. However, I do not point fingers here. Some obscessions result into one thinking they are like that. Movies we watch, experiences we undergo in life, opinions of people and many others, define whom we are. When we believe in what we think we are, then we are whom we are.

!

Morality is not a thing to joke with. God is a no respector of persons. He is not human to lie or regret. He says He comes soon.

We have àll things in the world at our disposal to do with them as we want. Yet, we have the power to choose what is right or wrong. What is it that pleases God? God's initial plan was for a perfect man to come into contact with a perfect woman, and the two, get perfect children. Sin however entered the world through Adam and Eve. Therefore what was perfect turned imperfect. An imperfect man therefore took to wife an imperfect woman who bore imperfect children, the cursed osprings.

Paul echoed this in Romans 7:15 "The good I want to do I don't do but the bad I don't want to do is what I do."
