Last week, my phone went missing and was later found to have been possibly crushed by a vehicle, which could be either a bike or a car. The whole incident happened unexpectedly and made me weak for a moment, as repairing the device equated to unplanned expenses that I had no choice but to make sure I got it repaired.
My iPhone is what I make use of when I want to do transactions and also for my video recordings, as the camera is better than my Android phone. This was why the phone was very important to getting it done.
I am quite lucky to have friends around who deal with the repair of mobile devices. I have two in particular, but I gave them to the person who was closest and within my reach, which I believe would help me get the phone repaired in the fastest possible time.
With the way my phone was damaged, I was very concerned about losing my Face ID and true tone of the device because the crash was so serious that there was a dent in the phone. I was at risk of having the panel of the phone affected by the incident, but I was lucky that it wasn't so.
I thought that repairing the phone would cost me up to $80 but I ended up paying less for the repairs. The repairs was primarily the changing of the phone screen and also the casing, as the original casing of the phone is damaged. My friend was able to help me repair my phone for $54.4 approximately #68,000 naira.
Unfortunately, the Face ID was already damaged due to the incident, and he could not do anything about it. I was really pained hearing this news because I know how the Face ID made my life easy without having to type my passwords frequentl, and also because it would devalue the worth of the phone.
I had the intention to sell the phone after repairs and maybe get an upgrade but with the news of the Face ID and True tone not working, it has really reduced my expectations on how much I would make from selling the phone. Since I don't have much on me at the moment, I would hold on to the phone for a while and then sell it when I have something I can add to it.
Here are pictures of my phone now after the repairs:
You may be wondering why I still used a blue casing instead of changing the color. I actually planned on using a black casing but my friend who assisted me in repairing my phone said it was only the blue casing that was available. I would have really loved a different colour for the casing, as it would have given a different feel to the phone.
Tomorrow I would be going out to repair my laptop. The hinge of the laptop is broken, which means I would need to change the laptop case. This would cost me another $30 tomorrow. I hope the place I am going to get it done has the correct casing and gets it done on time.
