Our faces are commonly categorized in different shapes e.g round, diamond, heart, triangle, oval, oblong, square, etc. It's important we know the various types of face shapes and have a guide to determine what makeup techniques work best for them.

The Square shaped face: these are defined by their boxy silhouette, a flat and prominent chin, strong cheekbones and a squared forehead. It's mostly common seen with models.

The Oval shaped face: This is generally referred to as the perfect face shape because it has a high sculptured cheekbone with a softly curved jawline that finishes the delicate skin. The oval shaped face tends to have an equal width and length of the face with a little bit of wideness to the cheeks.

The heart shaped face: This face looks wider on the cheekbone and narrower on the chin area. A heart shaped face is easy to trim by making use of contour on the cheekbones and the temples to make the cheekbones wider with respect to the chin.

The Pear/triangular shaped face: It is the opposite of the heart shaped. The head is narrower at the top and wider at the bottom. You can make the eyes pop by bringing attention in creating a softer jawline.

Long/oblong shaped face: This face either has a long forehead or a long chin. Its features may look drawn and rather raw boned creating a tired effect. Most long shaped faces would be contoured either on the forehead or on the chin to make both ends of the face softer and its one of the easily recognized face shape.

The Round shaped face: It's characterized by a wide forehead and the area below the cheeks.

Knowledge of basic face structure and face shapes leads to understanding of the concept of makeup balance. We all have different face shapes, but whichever one you may have ,you're naturally sexy with it.
