Remember I showed you guys a double hex necklace? It was 2 hexagons interlocked on a gold chain. It was 18 kts.
Well, I went into the store and tried it on.. not a fan at all.
Fist of all, each hex has a piece missing on the side so you can line them up and pull to remove the necklace.
Second, the chain was small, felt really tight on my neck.
And thirdly, the necklace really felt like a woman’s necklace lol, big no-no.
So, back to the drawing board.
Many many years ago, my sister bought me a silver necklace for my birthday. Unfortunately, a few years later, the chain broke at the beach and I lost it forever. I was really upset about that. I ended up going to buy another one but it never really felt the same. Well, the one I ended up buying was much thicker than the one my sister bought me. Btw, it was a Figarucci style silver necklace.
So, nowadays, for some funny reason, I want a big gold chain.
Brining me to silvergoldbull looking at their 22 KT necklaces.
But, I am more of a fan of the Curb Style design vs the Figarucci style.
Here is the thing, gold is significant more expensive than silver, also, 1 oz of gold takes up less volume vs 1 oz of silver, which is why my 1 oz gold coin is much smaller than my 1 oz silver coin.
I go click on some of the necklaces, and there are measurements (some of them don’t tell you the thickness of the chain, like the example in the second image below.
Choosing an expensive necklace, and seeing how the thickness is only 4mm got me thinking. I get up and go measure my silver necklace, which is too big, and it comes in at around 11mm (1.1 cm). I actually have a silver bracelet (which I don’t know where it came from lol) and it measures at somewhere between 8-10mm (lol I’ll measure it again tomorrow I forget the exact measurement).
So, lets pretend its 1cm, that bracelet size will be a perfect size for my necklace. As you can see in the picture below, there is no thickness measurement. So I did some digging around and found a necklace around half the weight of this necklace, which measured at around 5mm. So I assume this necklace, at 101.5 grams will be 1 cm thick (will confirm all these thickness’s after measuring my bracelet).
I know I know, people tell me “what are you some sort of mobster” to wear this gold chain… no lol, I’m no mobster, I am just a simple man who knows what he wants and strives to get it :)
