What do you think about this bug compared to the Spanish Flu? How about subsequent waves?

I thought my answer would make a great video and post for other folks wondering the same thing. I'm sure many of you have been putting some thought to it as well. Here is the post and below it will be the video. Pick your pleasure.

Things have changed in the world and in human society since 1918.

On the downside, we have some very dense populations aka big cities and an abundance of growth giving rise to an increased number of cities around the country in general since then. We have processed foods and and a more domicile lifestyle. Not the healthiest way to live. The weaker a person is the more likely that person would succumb to a serious illness. Easy and affordable air travel around the world so any incubation period does not pass during an ocean voyage like in 1918. People get off a plane and become symptomatic later or only had mild symptoms meanwhile they infected other passengers.

At the same time we have better sanitation and in general better nutrition for those who choose and can afford to eat whole foods. We also have better healthcare options now to deal with things like pneumonia. We have antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and technology now. Antibiotics were NOT an option in 1918 (see the link below from the CDC) We also have easy and instant access to updated information now a days.

So really, I think, my humble opinion is that we would be comparing apples and oranges due to so many changed variables between then and now. I do however see a potential for this to go down in history as the new event we reference in the future rather than the Spanish flu.

As far as the threat level of this thing, we do not know due to the lack of confidence in the provided data. China has a very long history of not being honest with facts and figures. This is true too of subsequent waves. We, the public, do not have enough information however, it stands to reason humans are spreading it into the environment where it can then take hold in new reservoirs. We are exposing other animals and critters to it as well as each other. I expect some mutations which viruses do anyway but more so due to this fact. Again, my humble opinion. I don't think the toothpaste is just going to go back into the tube in other words. It's out and that's that.

We can't just be bystanders with this. We can't just watch the news and behave like good little sheeple. We need to think for ourselves and realize NOW that we must also act for ourselves. The government is not going to save us. The "calm the public show" has already started. They know screening is ineffective in this case. It's to show us they are handling it like the soldiers in the airport after 9/11 with empty guns with no ammo on hand. It was to calm the public. We will be on our own. Start calmly and rationally thinking and behaving that way now as part of your prepping.
