I was completely burnt out a couple of months back. I just got some help from a friend, who brought me in cause I was stuck in a terrible household, making my drug addiction and depression much worse... My life did a 180, and I was living normally for the first time, with a full-time job, and normal social life. He ended up kicking me out because of stress with his wife & Child(toddler). I was at my wit's end with life, I gave it every shot I could (or so I thought). Turns out 8-9 rehab trips weren't enough, but that last visit, even though it was shorter than every other visit, is what stuck. The depression and stress are what really did me in for so long (over 5 years).
I recently discovered what really made life have meaning again, and bring a burden off my shoulders that was much needed, it was to help others & do good deeds/random acts of kindness. Do not take on more stress to help others, just do things like giving advice to people who need it(mentor someone who is in a difficult place), or help strangers with bus fare, you get the picture. Find what gives you purpose and fulfillment, it might not be the same as mine, but spend your free time doing that instead of wasting your time on b-s. I stopped playing video games, and harming my body with chemicals, and found what I enjoyed doing. I just randomly stumbled into my newfound passions by mistake, and suggestions from others(I finally took for once). I found Hive blogging and helping other addicts get over their addictions, as well as helping anyone I come across when I can afford to.
