Greetings all,
Shad here, once again, from Atitlan Organics. As usual, I woke up this morning to start the farm chores and it hit me how cool homesteading actually is.

Our first chore is to walk the goats, which basically makes me a Goat Herder or a Shepherd. Pretty crazy. Many people probably think that job doesnt even exist anymore.

Yeah, that is the morning goat walk view. Triple Volcano. And an amazing lake. It is important that the goats go to fresh ground everyday so that they have stuff to eat and get well nourished. They convert weeds and brush into cheese and meat. This is amazing return on investment. We love the goats. And their cheese!!!

And that is Don Chito Cortez, the dirt dog. He is the shepherd dog that keeps the goats in order. Indispensable to this type of work.

And that is Virginia. She is a lovely goat. All of our goats are named after the 50 United States. WE give the male goats names like Massachusetts and Connecticut because they are not around for very long. They soon get better names like Loganiza and Chorizo.

Hope you enjoyed a glimpse of the life of a modern day shepherd.
