The offerings to the gods were sacred, they were a reinforcement of the prayers that humans addressed to heaven. Everyone wore what they could, flowers, animals, jewels; at times real sacrifices were made to prove one's faith, to make the gods happier and more benevolent. To Azumir all this seemed like a dictatorship, the submissive people put themselves in the hands of someone else's will: for the young rebel this fact was unacceptable.

Le offerte agli dei erano sacre, erano un rafforzamento delle preghiere che gli umani volgevano al cielo. Ognuno portava quello che poteva, fiori, animali, gioielli; a volte si svolgevano dei veri e propri sacrifici per dimostrare la propria fede, per rendere gli dei più felici e benevoli. Ad Azumir tutto questo sembrava una dittatura, il popolo sottomesso si metteva nelle mani del volere di qualcun altro: per il giovane ribelle questo fatto era inaccettabile.
