As soon as Grattino put his paw on the snow it sank, he pulled it out and licked it. It had no taste, a strange texture and a refreshing sensation. The cat ventured further, walking through the snow with circumspection. After a while he became bolder and launched into short runs and drifts that amused him. It was like the freshly washed kitchen floors, just slippery enough to lose control in a fun way.

Appena Grattino appoggiò la zampetta sulla neve questa sprofondò, la tirò fuori e se la leccò. Non aveva nessun sapore, una strana consistenza ed una sensazione rinfrescante. Il gatto si avventurò oltre, camminando nella neve con circospezione. Dopo un po' si fece più audace e si lanciò in brevi corse e derapate che lo divertirono. Era come il pavimento della cucina appena lavato, scivoloso al punto giusto per perdere il controllo in modo divertente.
