Sam was a very lively and curious baby, and as soon as he realized that by pointing his little finger in any direction he had the great power to command his parents, he abused it repeatedly. The poor parents struggled to understand what he wanted and brought him every object that crossed the direction of his little finger. Sam fiddled with it for a few seconds, then disinterestedly got rid of it by pointing at other things.
His enjoyment came from watching his parents walk back and forth and he took to pointing at things farther and farther away. When he learned to walk, he kept the discovery to himself and pretended for a few months that he couldn't, just to see his parents constantly moving around to fulfill his requests.

Sam era un neonato molto vispo e curioso, ed appena capì che puntando il ditino in qualsiasi direzione aveva il grande potere di comandare i suoi genitori, ne abusò ripetutamente. I poveretti si affannavano a capire cosa volesse e gli portavano ogni oggetto che incrociava la direzione del ditino puntato. Sam ci giocherellava per qualche secondo, poi con disinteresse se ne liberava puntando altre cose.
Il suo divertimento derivava proprio dal vedere i genitori camminare avanti ed indietro e prese a puntare cose sempre più lontane. Quando imparò a camminare tenne la scoperta per sé e fece finta per alcuni mesi di non esserne capace solo per vedere i genitori in costante movimento per esaudire le sue richieste.
