Hello everyone! I know, spring has come, but I came across these photos online and I want to share them with you) What do you think it is? I thought it is a mini-exposition of the Christmas city. But I didn't think, from what is built this beauty.
It turns out, that this is a city, that is built entirely out of tasty building material is gingerbread. In the Norwegian city of Bergen every year before Christmas, the residents erected a gingerbread town, its construction involved all the cakes are baked including in kindergartens, homes, schools, businesses. Tradition has existed since 1991, every year the town is visited by more than 100 thousand people. Bergensavisen noted that the town gained popularity in 1995, when the "Russian TV station with 40 million viewers" made a report about it.
In Scandinavia ginger gingerbread appeared in the XIII century. First it praised the nuns from the Swedish Vadstena Abbey, they noticed that it was not only delicious, but also helps with digestive problems. Two centuries later, doctors recommended king Johann to include ginger gingerbreads in the diet: it should have helped him with abdominal pain, as well as improve his mood. Since the XVII century gingerbread came in a wide sale throughout Europe, also acting as a medical device: you can buy them in pharmacies and monastery shops.
This story will be continued in Bergen. Here ginger gingerbreads are called Pepperkaker, they are baked according to a special recipe. Every year, thousands of tourists and residents come to Bergen to admire this work of art. Have you ever seen anything like this?
Thanks for reading and have a good day)
