Hive 10 Year Anniversary Post. What can I say? I like pickles (see below)

I was checking my voting power a couple of days ago before I do my evening votes and I discovered that I've been here for exactly ten years. I thought I would go back over how I got started and how I felt as time went one though the years. (yes I will be re publishing photos as I dig though my old posts.) Ten years is a big deal !
It was a cold August morning back in 2016 when I had signed up for the S-word platform. I was thinking to myself, "This can't possibly be real." Still,
I gave it a shot and then wrote my first post.
You can see, that I was attempting to use Hive as I would Twitter.
That would be a mistake that today, as if someone would have a way of knowing, would get any funds taken and get you a rep of (0).
Next, I had only three votes, one of which was my own self voting on me. My goal was to somehow learn the best way to post and get a balance - then take it out in order to prove to myself that this was real crypto and that it would not have some kind of catch to getting the money out. I had previously tried "Minds" which wanted to link my bank, bla -bla and all that which is not for me.
I was able to make a withdrawal and change my first payday into Bitcoin (my preferred token). That ability gave me a level of trust for the blockchain that would propel me to continue, well, for ten years.
The pickle post was written because the pickles you buy in the stores here in Argentina are disgusting. They are made by putting cucumbers in a jar and then filing the jar with white vinegar. The only ones that taste good are the ones on your burgers from McDetox and BurgerCheming.
This was not my top ten pick in any way (these are in order of oldest to newest - by the way) It was one that made the most money! Or did it?
The coin prices were up back then - I still have those $118.73 but today, they are worth the same 31 hive coins that I was paid (31 hive x 0.0396 hive price) which is a grand total of $1.24
My hope is that Hive turns around and those days come back. I have never sold any of my hive except the proof sale I talked about in order to scam-proof this blockchain.
Oh, by the way, this was my footer back then - seems old-time - the way it looks.
I did several projects that I did with my son on weekends before girls became a thing for him. One of the nicest ones was a model Corvette we built.
This was the last model that we did, which didn't require any kind of painting. If you are careful with the glue, then the car is going to come out perfectly.
These were some of the best times that we spent together between homework and work for him and me.
I had not realized it but the platform took a bit of a curve about six years ago and most people thought it would be a game changer. The instagram of the blockchain world.
From late 2019 until April or May of 2020, there was this sensation called Appics
It was a craze that took the platform by storm. I did not realize it until now, but I lost a lot of content, including the last part of another model build with my son.
Most of my posts looks something like this.
The blog list is slightly less barren, but still like...
I lost beach videos with my kids, food prep videos, and cute moments with the pets. Something about famous people coming on board on Hive or any kind of "viral" attempt to go mainstream seems to fire up the hive police to come in and make sure nobody is having too much fun. I guess I am glad that it had not lasted longer or I would have lost more timeless memories.
I just went to the links that lead me to my content and...
At least Hive survived the separation of the two entities.
Here is one appics post that didn't get completely obliterated...
The photos both stayed on the page and the story about how police set up roadblocks in order to find out if people are driving without their seat-built insurance, correct papers for the car, driver's licenses and whatnot.
Of course this was before cameras started doing all of this for them. At the time I did not have a driver's license to drive in this crazy country, but since then I have obtained one and all my tickets come to a website where I pay them.
