Splinterlands Fan Art - Feral Spirit
Hello everyone! Lester is here! Welcome back to another piece of Splinterlands Fan Art from yours truly. For this fan art, I drew Feral Spirit from the Life element. I normally play in Modern League, so I kind of miss playing with this little fellow.
Here is the card reference image of Feral Spirit in Splinterlands.
Forever caught between dimensions, the Feral Spirits (and all Luminous Beasts) are the result of the Obliteration of Light, a horrible destructive event in which all the living vanished from the surface of Khymeria. These spirits do not hunger or thirst, but their fangs still bite and their claws still slash.
Here are the materials that I used to create this fan art.

In my previous fan art, Ilthain the Revenant, I used Poseit to create a reference posture for the card. But I tried not to use it for this card because there is no cat reference in Poseit. Hehehe.
For this fan art, I imagine a cat floating in the air to show that it is a spirit cat. Hehehe. Below are step-by-step images of my work.
I started with line art, and I used thick lines for the outer part and thin lines for the inner parts of the drawing. Next, I used another layer for my flat colors and tried to use colors that were the same as the original card.
On another layer, I began adding the light and dark tones of the image. I then added yellow highlights to the right and blue highlights to the left portion of the image.
And then, I guess this is the exciting part for me: I erased some parts of the image to create a spirit-like flow onto the body of the cat. I then added rose pink to every erased area.
I then duplicated the flat color layer and placed it under the layer with the erased body part and applied shades of yellow to it. For the background, I used gradients of blue, and then I added grass and purple clouds on the bottom part of the image.
On the top part, I added blue rays of light and some stars. I also added glowing colors to its eyes and put on some whiskers. And finally, I added some dark trees behind the image.
And below is the final output of my fan art.
What I enjoyed most about creating this fan art was creating the swirling spaces on the body of the cat. For me, this depicts that the cat is in spirit form. 😄 😼
I also like the layer-by-layer effect of the base flat color, layer with rose pink color, and layer with black color. I think it added depth to my drawing.
