Yep… I’m addicted!

Ever since the guys at work put a popcorn machine in our office, I’ve thought I gotta have one at home. Maybe this wasn’t too good of an idea but I got one anyway. At the end of the work day we all wind down with a bag or two of popcorn and shoot the shit until it’s time to go home. Now that I have one at home I try and limit my popcorn intake at work. Since I got this Snap-On Popcorn Machine at the house, I’ve been making at least one pot a day. After work it’s my go-to snack now…

It takes about 5 minutes to make a batch. Fire up the stirrer, cut the package open all the way across the top, dump everything into the pot, let it stir for a little bit, then turn the heat on and let the popping begin.

Now it wasn’t that easy when I first got the machine. The thermostat for the pot was way to hot. All the kernels basically popped at once. Clogged the pot and burnt the crap out of the popcorn. After a little search online I found out how to adjust the thermostat on the pot. The pot had to be taken apart in order to find the thermostat. There is a little tiny screw and a 1/4 turn adjusted the temp 40F. It took about 5 batches of popcorn before I got the temp just right. Not hot enough, then too hot, then too cold again, then a touch too hot, then just right.

When the light is turned on, there is a warmer on the bottom that comes on too. Keeping the popcorn nice and warm also keeping the popcorn from getting soft and stale. The crew that has the same machine said their popcorn lasts 2-3 days before it starts to lose its crispness. Now you can’t be havin’ a popcorn machine without havin’ some legit popcorn bags to stuff hand fills of popcorn in your face.

My son on the other hand, likes to stand in front of the popcorn machine and shovel handfuls into his mouth. Like the machine is a giant popcorn bowl or something. Of course it seems like half of what he grabs ends up in his mouth, while the other falls on the floor.

I am constantly walking by grabbing a handful here and a handful there. Then later fill up a bag… I may need to seek a popcorn support group…

We went and watched the new Avatar movie for my daughters birthday. Everyone thinks movie theater popcorn is the best.. Nope!!! I used to devour a tub of movie theater popcorn while watching a flick. After the first 2 handfuls I leaned over to Mama Splatts and said,

Well great… not only can I not stop stuffing my face with popcorn, now I can’t even look forward to popcorn while watching a movie on the big screen…
