Hi everyone!
Yesterday, I was telling you that it was finally raining… Well, since then, it seems like the rainy season has decided to make up for lost time all at once! It’s been pouring nonstop—it’s practically a downpour. As if the region suddenly realised it was six months behind on rain and decided to catch up on all that lost time in just a few days.
At this point, you’re not sure whether to grab an umbrella, put on your wellies, or bring a little boat just to get around! The streets are soaked, the sky is grey, and the rain doesn’t seem to want to give us a break. Still, after waiting months for it to arrive, we can’t complain too much… though it could have come back a little more gently!
So, instead of going out between work shifts, I’m going to stay nice and cosy at home for a while, enjoy being out of the rain, and wait until it’s time to head back to work. With weather like this, I’d rather not hang around outside for no reason and save a bit of energy for the rest of the day.
And the cold has arrived too! It’s been eight months since I last had the radiator on overnight, and eight months since I last got the blanket out. Luckily, it had been waiting patiently in the cupboard all this time… so patiently, in fact, that I’d almost forgotten it was there!
There’s something so comforting about that first night under the blanket: you snuggle in, warm up, and listen to the rain falling outside. All that’s missing is a nice hot drink to complete the picture! With all this rain and the cold weather back, staying warm before heading back to work doesn’t sound like a bad idea at all.
I think I’ll just stay at my computer—but this time, instead of going out for a coffee in town, I’ll enjoy a bit of peace and quiet at home. I’ll put on a series, or maybe something silly, just to pass the time.
There are days when you wonder why you got up so early if you’re only going to end up doing nothing… Then again, sometimes “doing nothing” is exactly what you need!
And just thinking about having to go out in the rain to get to work, then make the journey home in the rain afterwards, isn’t exactly motivating. I’d much rather stay warm and dry and put it off for a while… But, as the saying goes, you’ve got to earn a living!
They also say that “work is good for you.” That must be something a boss came up with while sitting warm and dry in the office, as everyone else heads out into the rain to get to work! 😂
Until it’s time to leave, I’m going to enjoy this quiet little moment at home, settled in with my computer and a series. At least I’ll stay dry until the very last minute… Because after that, umbrella in hand, I’ll just have to brave the rain!
