A rug was commissioned by the Andre Figueiredo Rugs LTD based upon art work of the artist James Thompson, who was sourced through the organisation Ochre Print Studio in Guildford. Ochre Print Studio has provided invaluable support to James who has been challenged with mental illness for many years. The ability of James’s lino cut work to be transformed into vibrant contemporary rugs was immediately recognised and a rug from his work ‘All The Rage’ was produced at the end of 2017. The rug was hand knotted in Nepal in pure New Zealand wool at 100 knots per square inch and measuring 4ft by 7ft. It was also hand carved on three different levels, differentiating the colour aspects of the original lino cut. The company is thrilled to have James on board as a lead artist and hope to collaborate with him in the future.
