The Heir to the Cheshireland Throne

Meet Lord Shelton, fifth Earl of Chesterharth, Prince and Great Steward of Featherbin, Duke of the Westershire, Royal Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of Cumberbun, and Heir to the Cheshireland Throne! Lord Shelton for short.

Lord Shelton is a 3 week old, adventurous snail. Born in the flames of oxygen and natural gas (see the tutorial here: https://steemit.com/art/@spc/glass-implosion-snail-with-tutorial-aka-lord-shelton), he loves nature and slow walks on the beach. Well not walks exactly, but something close enough.

Lord Shelton is a diplomatic and caring Lord, beloved by his people and exhibiting all the promising traits of a young aristocrat. Initially, many subjects of Cheshireland objected to Lord Shelton's Lordship due to his age, but after a few hours his talents and dashing good looks began to win over his people.

The First Decree

Lord Shelton’s first decree banned all snowplows from salting the roads. Salt was a huge problem for the snails of Cheshireland as many snails and slugs were killed by the salty roads. The switch was made from salt to sand and there was much rejoicing.

Foreign Policy

Soon after his first decree, Lord Shelton demonstrated his diplomatic prowess by initiating a relationship with France. For quite some time the snails of Cheshireland harbored resentment for the French after French restaurants began making escargot. The invention of this dish brought an age of terror to Cheshireland. No one was safe! In response to the fear of being snatched up and eaten, Cheshireland snails began creating dummy snails, and filling the shells with ghost peppers, the hottest chili peppers known to snails. When unsuspecting patrons of French restaurants ordered escargot, the spicy peppers stuffed in the fake snail shells bombarded their senses and ruined their meals. This brand of cuisine terrorism created panic amongst escargot enthusiasts and the French restaurants were furious. Up until Lord Shelton’s inauguration the French and the snails of Cheshireland hadn’t spoken and both countries felt the pain of conflict, but Lord Shelton has since opened negotiations for a peace treaty. This multifaceted agreement involves the end of ghost peppers stuffed snails and the introduction of synthetic snail meat. The development of synthetic snails will allow the French to continue selling escargot without the loss of Cheshireland lives. While some of these details have yet to be ironed out, both the Lord Shelton and the French believe this treaty will pan out and end barbarous conflict.

The Future

If all goes well with France in the coming weeks, Lord Shelton’s plans to complete the anti-escargot treaty should come to a quick conclusion. A swift agreement between Cheshireland and France looks likely, although there is always a chance for discord if the countrymen of either side harbor resentment and the treaty isn’t thoroughly enforced. Only time will tell.

While Lord Shelton has a number of political duties to tend to, his mobile office has allowed him the freedom to wander around the Cheshireland countryside as he pleases. In the weeks to come, Lord Shelton will be posting exciting moments from his travels, updates on the political climate of his country, and perhaps, meeting some new friends!
