Understand the blockchain and get token: Illuminated facade of the Grazer Kunsthaus collections money for privacy organizations.

While browsing the Internet, you can leave a lot of personal data and use it commercially by Internet companies. The Blockchain, a new technology that is designed to revolutionize the Internet, allows for privacy and anonymity on the World Wide Web.

Learn the blockchain in the game

In the next weeks until October 27th, everyone can set a sign for privacy. The play project Play4Privacy (P4P) is part of the exhibition play! a wider public the blockchain playfully closer - in the truest sense of the word. The illuminated BIX façade of the Kunsthaus Graz will be open daily from 7 pm to 10 pm to the game board of the Strategiespiel Go.

Interested parties from all over the world play in the Internet for two weeks every night. On the basis of a computer-generated community consensus, each team sets a stone every twenty seconds. All those who help to decide the next move will receive a so-called PLAY token of the same crypt. This can be obtained free of charge and anonymously at www.play4privacy.org.

With the blockchain to more transparency and privacy

The Blockchain promises a comprehensive protection of one's own privacy and personal data on the Internet. This is exactly what the initiators of the project, the Grazergenossenschaft lab10 collective eG, want to convey with Play4Privacy to a broad public. "Our goal is to promote the knowledge of privacy & blockchain among the population," explains the project manager for P4P Thomas Lechner.

Every game can be imagined as a series of decisions which, once set, are no longer reversible. The same is true in the blockchain. Once the decision is made ("consensus"), it is finally inserted as a new block into the blockchain and can never be changed again ("finality").

In addition, the concept of "transparent anonymity" is to be brought to the public in a playful way. All the games are displayed transparently in the public space as well as in the live stream and are there before directly accessible to the general public. In this way, for everyone, whether players or viewers, how the blockchain works - as an anonymous, distributed network with a public database that is not subject to central control.

Play for a good cause

Whatever you are going to be a strategic winner, all players will be given "virtual tokens" called PLAY for their use. This also includes the technical innovation of the Grazer Blockchain developers. For Play4Privacy, human creativity and playtime (proof-of-play) serve as a raw material for this new crypt diet "Made in Graz" instead of - as is usually the case with blockchain - to consume electricity for computer computing. These virtual coins can be loaded as a souvenir and investment on a possibly existing virtual wallet.

But not only do all the players benefit from the current blockchain boom. In addition, an additional token is generated for each turn and donated in favor of initiatives to strengthen privacy on the Internet. At the end of the exhibition, this pool of additional lapped PLAY tokens will be distributed to donors. The total proceeds of this fundraising effort will benefit non-profit organizations working in civil society for data protection.
