Earlier today, thanks to a resteem by 
Lucy is a rescue dog. She had been surrendered to our local Dog's home as her previous owner was no longer in a position to give her the care and attention she needed.
We visited the Dog's home in late December 2016 and met Lucy. We'd been looking for a while for a dog to add to our family, so we took Lucy into the "meet and greet pen" for a little interaction.
Our daughter was 1 at the time, and she and Lucy were immediately comfortable with one another, so after an hour or so of getting to know each other, we decided to take her home.
We picked her up on New Years Day, prefering that she not be stressed by new surroundings when the NYE fireworks commenced, given we already had plans and wouldn't be home to comfort her.
So we brought her home, and she has been a very happy addition to the family. She is extremely patient with our now 2.5 year old, as they grow up together.
