Hi, it's a pleasure to be here and I'm glad there is a space on Hive for these things! It is a very important and special day for me, something I dreamed of doing since I was 15 years old maybe, I am 29 and finally I could fulfill this dream, homeschooling my son!

I'm going to tell you a little about myself first, my education was 100% homeschooling when I was a child I learned to read and write in English and Spanish at the age of 3 years old, my dad taught me, I studied from a distance, I also had tutors for different things, like languages. My dad took great care of my education and focused a lot on me, thanks to him I am what I am today, I have the skills and qualities developed thanks to my dad educating me that way and also the principles and values that he instilled in me.

My son is what I love most in this world, the most important thing, the biggest responsibility and I want the best for him, he is above all my desires and aspirations.
We are living in an era where society has degenerated to the extreme, where children are taught ideologies and not productive things, the truth is that I do not want my son to fall into the jaws of degeneration, besides I was educated that way because my father thought it was the best for me, I also believe that it is the best for my son!
Besides the rottenness of society, homeschooling also has its advantages, the teaching goes at the pace of the child and not the herd, it focuses on their abilities and does not force them to have the same skills as everyone else.

Max's first day

Recently my son Maximiliano, to make it shorter I will refer to him as Max, turned 2 years old, that was the age I was waiting to start teaching him very basic things, little by little he is starting to loosen his tongue, he is starting to talk better and better, he is a very talented child and with a spectacular retention! We have taught him between his mom and me many words, actions and the names of objects and animals, he has been learning slowly and he himself starts to ask us what is the name of each thing and with patience we answer him! Today I decided to start his education and every day I will dedicate some time to teach him and also to get to know him better to be able to educate him better! The first thing I decided to start teaching him was numbers!

We started off pretty simple, I'm going to start teaching him the numbers 1 to 5, for that I grabbed some sheets of paper, cut them up and wrote the numbers 1 to 5 on them, besides that I grabbed 5 coins and 5 colors to help him associate what the numbers mean, I know he won't learn the numbers today but I'll start stimulating him until he can identify a number and say what it is! My strategy is simple, name the numbers and have him repeat them! I start by saying 1! and ask him to say 1! I show him the 1 and when he says 1 I celebrate! I clap and he knows that when I clap it is because he is doing something right and he gets very excited! That's how we do with all the numbers.

Next step, I take number by number, sheet by sheet and constantly repeat the number, I also put on top the equivalent number of coins, the equivalent number of colors and with his hands I also use his fingers to count, I show sheet by sheet and when I ask him what number it is if he gets it right I celebrate him! He gets happy and keeps repeating the number, it should be noted that he pronounces all the numbers very well except three which apparently he does not like very much and is the one he has more problems to pronounce and to my surprise he says four quite well and his favorite number is 5! When he repeats 5 he keeps saying it and everything becomes a 5! I show him the leaves and when he gets to 5 and says 5 I celebrate!

Besides this being a learning experience for him, it is also a learning experience for me, since I am not an expert, mentally I arm myself with patience because I know he is a baby and will never be at my level so I celebrate him when he gets it right but nothing happens when he gets it wrong, for the first time he showed a lot of interest! It was also a very nice experience, I felt spectacular living that moment with my son, this is the first of many days, every day from now on to educate him! An important detail is that he got impatient after 35 minutes, and after that he didn't want to know anything else, he wanted to keep playing, I think it was enough time, tomorrow I will repeat the same thing!

Tomorrow I will repeat exactly the same, I will try to update from time to time how his education is going, things I have learned and so on, there is something I will not repeat tomorrow, I will not use the coins and colors, I will only use his fingers to count the numbers, maybe it was a source of distraction more than anything else and I will see how he does, every child is different, maybe the fact of using objects helps him more and you think it is not helping him, it is a matter of experimenting and as he is so little also that it is a fun experience for him and it is not something so gray!
