Honestly, I used to freak out when I didn't post on Steem for more than one day, but lately... I freak out when I can't get back to my felting practice 'in time'.

I have a pretty regular 'schedule' for the felting I'm doing as I have a budget for how often I can do this as the felting process is heavy on the feet. Nope, this is not a 'sit at the table and do your thing' kind of craft, I use up hundreds and hundreds of steps (averaging at 2000) during a felting day as I walk around the table a lot to get my fibers in place, then have to do a lot of physical labour while standing on my feet, rolling the scarf over the table while adding pressure on it with my upper body, and then walk from and to the kitchen quite a few times as I want to make the wool fibers hot, then cold, then hot, then with soap, then without soap, then in vinegar, than in a towel to get it dry.

I also try to do Pilates twice a week, which means those two days I can't also felt, as my foot budget is too limited for that. I also can't felt two days in a row because the day after felting should be a 'rest day' of sorts.

Sorry if you're new to my blog and don't know a lot about my physical problems, I'm kind of freewriting here.

Anyway, the schedule turns out to be something like this:

  • Monday: Pilates
  • Tuesday: Felting
  • Wednesday: Recovery day
  • Thursday: Felting
  • Friday: Pilates
  • Weekend days: experiments while also trying to keep up my social life

And back to Monday again.

It works quite well for me, for now, but as I'm also looking for a job I'm already worrying how it will 'cost' my parts of that oh so precious schedule. But reality is I need a job to be able to keep doing the things I really want to do.

Ah yes, the realities of life.

Sorry, I didn't really know what I was going to write when I started writing. I guess I miss my personal blog that I kept for years and years a bit, you know, on my personal domain name, with no blockchain attached to it, and no worries about who would read or upvote or downvote it.

I hope I'm making it up to you with a sample of some work I've been doing the past weekend: these are called 'pre-felts', which means not fully felted pieces of fabric I made from wool and silk embellishments, which I then yesterday used in a 'real' scarf that turned out gorgeous.

(Sorry bil.prag@bil.prag and fotostef@fotostef and others who've been waiting, still no definitive shots of my work, but it's coming!)

What have YOU been up to when I've not been paying attention?
