Hello everyone!
Being part of this community is a great source of motivation to me, seeing beautiful works by our members really spurs me up.
This week I was trying on a native men's shirt, I've really not made it before so it took me longer than expected, I actually used up to 5 days to be able to complete it.
So let me brief you guys on how I came about it.
Cutting
I used the knowledge of shirt cutting but not including the button placket, I just added a slit up to a little below the under burst point to place the faucet (at the front cut).
I placed the remaining measurements of the shoulder +0.5inch for the seam, the armhole -2inches for the front cut, burst, waist, hip and the full length of the shirt, the front the hip line down to the hem I gave a slit and added 2inches allowance to bend the slit at the sides.
In cutting the back piece I pasted the front cut but added the 2inches I took out from the front armhole to the back then added an extra 2". The rest of the measurements were the same. For the neckline I used 2" and 2" depth for the front then 2" wide and 1' depth for the back neckline.
I went ahead to cut the yoke for the back, faucet for the front, sleeves and cuffs for the sleeve and the chest pocket.
Sewing
I attached the yoke to the back cut using pins to make sure it's sits properly before Sewing it to the fabric, I attached the faucets to the front slit then attached the pocket at the left side. I sewed the shoulder of the front and back cut together then piped the neckline with the bias strip I cut from the fabric.
I hemmed the hem of the shirt, attached the sleeves after attaching the cuffs and adding faucet to the wrist slit. After doing all that I joined the remaining parts and the shirts were ready!!!!!!
