Splinterlands Social Media Challenge!

Hi guys, I'm back with a new art for the social media challenge for this week. I tried to participate in the last week but the heat killed my mood to draw anything. I was able to finish it today after giving a nice bath to my house XD. Yep I was busy watering the roof this evening and it worked. The interior temperature of the house is back to normal now and I was finally able to paint again. Really hard to do anything these days guys. Lots of things are happening and none of them are going according to plan XD. It's clouding my mind and my ability to draw. But some things do go according to plan and probably good things might happen within 2 days I hope haha.

Ok, enough with that and let's move on to the art haha. I choose this character because she is an elf and I like drawing elf ears. They are pretty cute in my opinion and I never miss a chance when I see an opportunity to draw one haha.

I started with drawing a rough sketch on paper. After that was done I drew it again digitally on ibis app and applied base colours. I started with the eyes as usual. I usually add a shadow and highlight colour on it but I decided to apply a secondary highlight on top of the eyeris at a lower opacity and added a small amount of gaussian blur to it. I think eyes came out really well and is probably the best part of this painting.

The skin layer was done pretty fast since it's a portrait After the face rendering was done I applied white highlights on the highest points of the face and also added halftone texture over it to stylize it. I doubt that you guys will see it in a mobile screen haha.

The hair gave me real trouble this time. I didn't use any reference for this painting to it was pretty difficult to paint it from memory. Although it was difficult it was a good challenge. I actually have up painting hair yesterday. It was not going the way I wanted. I think I spent hours deciding what to do with the hair. The blonde hair was definitely not working with my style. That's why I darkned it so that I can properly apply shadows and highlights later on. I don't know what happened today because I did finish the rest of painting very fast. It was probably because of the cool air inside the house now. I felt very fresh inside and the painting was done smoothly because of this.

This painting was like a revival of what was left yesterday. I didn't know what to do with it and I definitely didn't want to delete it because If I give it some time I usually come back with better ideas and improve so I'm glad that I didn't delete it haha. I hope you guys enjoyed the process and I'll see you guys in my next blog!
