Holo!
How's everyone doing these days? Yeah yeah I know crypto dumped slightly. It's nothing to be concerned about compared to last year or the previous year. We are still bullish in a way and I believe it's gonna break this month ATH again during halving. At least I hope so hehe. Anyway coming to the art, I decided to draw Forest Healer again but a with a more natural twist to her design. I already painted her in the Holozing uniform so I thought it was time to do something creative with this character. This is how it came out :)
Forest Healer
The Process
- Made a rough sketch first using this reference from Pinterest
- Made a clean lineart using penfade brush.
- Decided to use green as the main colour so her clothes are also painted in that colour since we are going with the nature theme here. At this stage I layed down the base colours and added highlights on her eyes.
- Rendered the eyes at this point by adding highlights and shadows inside it and played with some new brushes to get some textures in there.
- Started painting the skin and layed down the darker shades on her face.
- Began to paint other parts of the body as well.
- Started blending the skin layer at this point and added more shades for 3d look. Once I was done with that I added highlights on appropriate areas of her body.
- Started painting the hair at this point.
- Fully rendered the hair by coloring it according to the source of light using penfade brush on a multiply and add layer.
- Started working on the background by painting some vegetation. Also painted a strong lighting on her body as well.
- I duplicated the vegetation layer multiple times until I could fill the whole background with it and adjust the colours to satisfy the lighting condition. Then I added a motion blur on all of them to make it look it moving because of the wind.
- I painted some trees in the upper area because it looked kinda empty without it and blurred it as well since it's standing at a distance.
- Painted her hair accessory at this point.
- Since we are making changes on her design I decided to use the forest healer emblem as a flower itself blooming on the wines surrounding her hand.
- Added some blue flowers as well because it's complementary to green.
The Result
- In the end I decided to paint some flowers on her hair band as well and refined the painting a bit more before posting. I hope you guys enjoyed the painting and the process :)
