With all the pretty wildflowers coming up in the third acre enclosure we have built. I figured it would make a great backdrop to a video. With lots on my mind I sit down and just cover where we are at. I added some pictures from the video throughout this post, you can find the videos at the beginning and end of the wild flowers. I talk in the middle of the video.

The hay fields have been cut and mostly baled, near the end one of the bale line cutters broke so we had to have our equipment dealer come out and fix the machine. Its ready to go now but we will wait until the second harvest later this year to get the fields we missed while the machine was down.

The plan is to break up the bales where we want to setup for windrows, and then slowly break down the hay into soil through turning of the piles. But until then we have many raised beds ready to go, and the long term plan is to recycle the hay back into soil to grow more plants.

Our seeds we started were mostly a failure, mostly due to poor moisture retention in the soil. So our plan is to add more dirt to the hay and wood chips to help seedlings with this.

Most of the duck and chicken enclosure is built. The foundation is set, made sure erosion does not affect the block the enclosure is built on. And we have the floor framing, and floor boards ready to go. The only thing we are waiting on now is the side and roof panels which should be arriving any week now.

The workshop is all built now, just the inside is left. We have the retaining wall mostly complete and gutters along with rain collectors have been added. Soon I will add rain barrels to collect that water. We added more slate rock to around the building to help with what was washed away before the gutters were mounted.

With some shots of the wild flowers in the beginning and end of the video I really enjoyed seeing them thrive.

It is really beautiful out here and I am enjoying every minute of it.
