Yesterday afternoon I visited the area of "La Candelaria" in Bogota and I thought that the colors, the weather and the images I saw were perfect to be captured by the camera of my phone. This is not my first time visiting La Candelaria, however, the previous time I went it was noon and there were a lot of people, so I could not appreciate it as much as now.
El día de ayer por la tarde visité la zona de "La Candelaria" en Bogotá y me pareció que los colores, el clima y las imágenes que vi eran perfectas para ser capturadas por la cámara de mi teléfono. Esta no es mi primera vez visitando La Candelaria, sin embargo, la vez anterior que fui era mediodía y había muchísima gente, por lo cual, no pude apreciarla tanto como ahora.
La Candelaria is the downtown of Bogota. Important churches and public institutions are concentrated there. For example in the Plaza Simon Bolivar is the courthouse, the mayor of Bogota, the National Capitol, the Colegio Mayor de San Bartolome and the Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica. This square is considered a National Monument of Colombia and right there I captured some pictures while the sun was setting that I share with you below. Here you can see many people enjoying the place, taking pictures and selfies and street vendors.
La Candelaria es el centro de Bogotá. Allí se concentran importantes Iglesias e instituciones públicas. Por ejemplo en La Plaza Simón Bolívar se encuentra el palacio de justicia, la alcaldía de Bogotá, el Capitolio Nacional, el Colegio Mayor de San Bartolomé y la Catedral Basílica Metropolitana. Esta Plaza es considerada Monumento Nacional de Colombia y justo allí capturé algunas fotografías mientras el sol se ocultaba que les comparto a continuación. En ella pueden verse a muchas personas disfrutando del lugar, tomando fotografías y selfies y vendedores ambulantes.
La Candelaria is an area full of museums, gastronomy, artistic and cultural performances, historical monuments and street commerce. In "La Séptima" you can find typical drinks such as "Chicha" or "Canelazo", different restaurants with local and foreign dishes, artists selling handicrafts, making paintings in the street (yes, using chalk on the cement), singers, dancers, mimes, etc .... It is a very lively area, with a lot of movement, music and color.
La Candelaria es una zona repleta de museos, gastronomía, representaciones artísticas y culturales, monumentos históricos y comercio ambulante. En "La Séptima" puedes encontrar bebidas típicas como "Chica" o "Canelazo", distintos restaurantes de platos criollos y extranjeros, artistas vendiendo artesanía, realizando pinturas en la calle (sí, utilizando tiza sobre el cemento), cantantes, bailarines, mimos, etc... Es una zona muy alegre, de mucho movimiento, música y color.
I share these images with you so you can enjoy with me the Candelaria area at nightfall. After 7 pm the bars and nightclubs in the area turn on their music, then tourists and nationals come out to drink and enjoy life. In La Candelaria there is a lot to do... I am sure that you can enjoy the place very well regardless of your personal interests because there are plenty of activities to choose from. Les comparto estas imágenes para que disfruten conmigo la zona de la Candelaria al anochecer. Pasadas las 7 de la tarde los bares y discotecas de la zona encienden su música, entonces turistas y nacionales salen a tomar y a disfrutar la vida. En La Candelaria hay mucho por hacer... estoy segura de que se puede disfrutar muy bien del lugar independientemente de cuáles sean los intereses personales pues hay actividades de sobra para escoger. Por ejemplo, en el Centro Cultural Gabriel García Márquez encontramos una feria del libro, con ejemplares de todo tipo, además de escenografía alusiva a la temática. Although I had visited La Candelaria before, I tried not to lose the curious vision of a tourist, and the truth is that I discovered other spaces that I had not known before. Aunque ya había visitado La Candelaria anteriormente, intenté no perder la visión curiosa de un turista, y la verdad es que así descubrí otros espacios que no había conocido antes. Incluso, aún me quedan algunos lugares por visitar, como los museos, la biblioteca y restaurantes que llamaron mi atención. Así que espero regresar pronto.
