The unpredictable is part of life, the unexpected.
Even what we are afraid of can happen.
It is normal in those moments, to want to take refuge in the past, when the situation was different, or to move mentally into the future, to foresee or have some sense of control over the possible pain that may come to suffer.
In such cases, the present is hard and being in the present can be extremely distressing, but at the same time, necessary.
Anguish and helplessness appear, the thought “I can't do anything”. The truth is that we can. Especially because when there is pain it is because the situation matters, so being in the “here and now”, although it can sometimes feel emotionally complex, at the same time it is related to what we value and what is important to us. And what is important is not always nice, pleasant, good. Sometimes it is painful. And that's okay.
