It's true, sometimes, that the best moments are only recorded in our minds, but many others are available to us thanks to photography and we can enjoy them again with the memory. That's what I did when I was going through my archives to tidy them up a bit, I came across the images of a trip I made some years ago to the plains of Venezuela.
Es verdad, a veces, que los mejores momentos no quedan registrados sino en nuestra mente, pero muchos otros si los tenemos disponibles gracias a la fotografía y podemos volver a disfrutarlos con el recuerdo. Es lo que hice cuando al revisar mis archivos para ordenarlos un poco, me topé con las imágenes de un viaje que hice hace algunos años a los llanos de Venezuela.

Se trata del Hato El Cedral, ubicado en el estado Apure. Fui con unos amigos, salimos de madrugada desde Caracas en el carro de uno de ellos y unas 5 horas después, llegamos. Amanecer en la carretera tiene su magia...
It was the first time I went to this impressive region of Venezuela, the one that is most often identified with the national gentilicio, for example by Creole music, the joropo or tonada are cultural emblem of the country.
Era la primera vez que iba a esta impresionante región de Venezuela, la que más se suele identificar con el gentilicio nacional, por ejemplo por la música criolla, el joropo o la tonada son emblema cultural del país.
For me it is fascinating to have the opportunity to see new landscapes, and on this trip I was also able to immerse myself in the richness of Apure's fauna.
Para mí es fascinante tener la oportunidad de mirar nuevos paisajes, y en este viaje aparte de eso, también pude sumergirme en toda la riqueza faunística que tiene Apure.
The Venezuelan plains are never dry, there is greenery everywhere. Cattle ranching is the main economic activity here.
Los llanos venezolanos jamás están secos, hay verdor por doquier. La ganadería es la principal actividad económica por aquí.
Hato El Cedral is famous in the national and international tourism field, it's not only a cattle ranch, its most important role is that it is a wildlife refuge.
El Hato El Cedral es famoso en el ámbito turístico nacional e internacional, no sólo es una hacienda ganadera, su rol más importante es que es un refugio de fauna silvestre.
It has 53,600 hectares and visitors can enjoy excellent facilities and many guided walks to see a lot of animals in freedom, from caimans, capybaras, monkeys, deer, to pumas, jaguars, anacondas, river dolphins and about 400 species of birds.
Tiene 53.600 hectáreas y en ellas los visitantes pueden disfrutar de unas excelentes instalaciones y de muchos paseos guiados para ver en libertad a un montón de animales, desde caimanes, chigüires (capybaras), monos, venados, hasta pumas, jaguares, anacondas, delfines de río y cerca de 400 especies de aves.
In addition to the land tours where you see many animals, there are river tours where you can experience things like feeding an Orinoco caiman or catching piranhas for dinner.
Además de los paseos terrestres en los que ves a muchos animales, se hacen recorridos fluviales en los que puedes experimentar cosas como alimentar a un caimán del Orinoco o pescar pirañas para la cena.
After our tour along the Matiyure River, a heavy rain fell and the sky turned cobalt blue, which I was able to photograph:
Después del paseo que hicimos por el río Matiyure cayó una lluvia muy fuerte y el cielo se puso de un azul de tono cobalto, el cual pude fotografiar:
In the evening, along with dinner, there is a concert of "llanera" music for the visitors, harp, cuatro and maracas!
Por la noche, junto a la cena, no falta un concierto de música llanera para los visitantes, ¡arpa, cuatro y maracas!
The walks continue even at night, if you are lucky you can see nocturnal animals such as felines, we saw foxes, anteaters, bats... and more crocodiles.
Los paseos continúan incluso de noche, si se tiene suerte se pueden ver a los animales de hábitos nocturnos como los felinos, nosotros vimos zorros, osos hormigueros, murciélagos... y más cocodrilos.
Unfortunately we were not able to see the coveted felines, but no one leaves Hato El Cedral without meeting and even touching (if you wish) the anaconda, undoubtedly one of the best and most exciting moments of this trip.
Lamentablemente no pudimos ver a los codiciados felinos, pero nadie se va del Hato El Cedral sin conocer e incluso tocar (si lo desea) a la anaconda, sin duda uno de los mejores y más emocionantes momentos de este viaje.
So much for these memories of the Venezuelan plains 😊.
