For the last few months I have been collecting photos of old signs, posters of different styles and shapes that have survived the passage of time and are a sample of how the graphic image of the stores used to be.

Desde hace unos meses he ido reuniendo fotos de avisos viejos, carteles de diferentes estilos y formas que han sobrevivido al paso del tiempo y que son una muestra de cómo era antes la imagen gráfica de los comercios.

Most of these signs are in places that have not worked for many years, and therefore some are very dilapidated and you can hardly see what they have written, but there are also others that have been restored, but without losing that vintage air.

La mayoría de estos avisos están en sitios que no funcionan hace muchos años, y por eso algunos están muy destartalados y casi no se ve qué tienen escrito, pero también hay otros que han sido restaurados, pero sin perder ese aire vintage.

I have done some research on the businesses to which these signs belong and there are several that are over 50 years old.

All the signs that I show you are not located on an avenue but in parallel streets or quite far from the city center, this perhaps explains why they have remained there for so long, since not being in a busy location, there have been no interested in renting or buying these commercial premises to give them new use.

Todos los avisos que les muestro no se encuentran en una avenida sino en calles paralelas o bastante alejadas del centro de la ciudad, esto quizás explique por qué se han mantenido allí por tanto tiempo, ya que al no estar en una ubicación muy transitada, no ha habido interesados en alquilar o comprar estos locales comerciales para darles nuevo uso.

I like to put on guidelines like this and go out on the street hunting, it's exciting to find what you're looking for, even if sometimes you feel a little uncomfortable when you start to photograph and people look at you funny.

Me gusta ponerme pautas de este tipo e ir por la calle cazando, es emocionante encontrar lo que buscas, aunque a veces te sientas algo incómoda cuando te pones a fotografiar y la gente te mira raro.
